HAPPY BIRTHDAY MELISSA!
Today is our daughter Melissa’s Birthday and as I do each year, I try and give a glimpse into who she was is for those interested.
Today Fran, Brian and I are thrilled to share with you the launch of Melissa’s Wish, a not for profit conceived and inspired by Melissa in the final days of her life.
Melissa asked that if we did anything in her name, could we help the caregivers of those afflicted with a catastrophic illness. Melissa was keenly aware of the struggles of those caring for their loved ones and at the same time trying to keep all the other challenges of their lives in check. It was important to Melissa that our loved ones, in the final stages of their lives, are treated with respect and dignity and the caregivers need help to do that.
Please visit melissaswish.com to see her story and find out more about her foundation.
I’m also thrilled to announce the support of Dee Snider, Twisted Sister front man, reality TV star, author, Broadway star and philanthropist. This is the 15th year of his annual motorcycle ride and he is dedicating all proceeds to Melissa’s Wish.
To pre-register for Dee’s Ride, come on as a sponsor or make a donation please visit deesnidersride.com.
Fran, Brian and I want to thank all the friends and volunteers who have helped us make this a reality. Your selfless efforts are instrumental in getting Melissa’s Wish off the ground. Your belief in Melissa’s Wish and trust in us are heartwarming. We will post more about this dedicated team on Melissa’s website as we go on.
If guided please make a donation in the name of someone dear to you or perhaps in the spirit and intent of Melissa. We would also like to hear your comments about the foundation and its mission. We plan to host multiple fundraising events in the next year, with a goal of helping as many caregivers as we can.
I thank Melissa for having the wisdom and foresight to conceive this and for her continuing inspiration and guidance and I thank you for taking the time to read this. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MELISSA!
